Welcome to the Pinecone Hackathon!

Hello Hackathon Participants!

We are thrilled to welcome you to the Pinecone Hackathon: Jumpstart Real-World AI Applications, taking place from June 19 to June 26, 2023. As one of over 1000 participants, you are about to embark on a week-long journey to solve real-world problems using Pinecone and a set of amazing tools provided by our sponsors.

Before we delve into the details, here are a few important instructions for the participants:

  1. Register your idea: If you haven't registered your idea yet, please do so as soon as possible. This is an essential step for your participation. We ask that you choose one representative from your team to register the idea.

  2. Make your code and final application available: As part of the submission requirements, we kindly ask you to make both your source code and the final application accessible for evaluation.

  3. Team formation: You should be part of a team comprising 2 to 8 members. If you do not have a team and want to find one, please reach out to us, and we will do our best to assist you. As a last resort, you may choose to go solo. If you decide to participate solo, please specify this when registering your idea. Please note that if you decide to go solo, the participation award will be smaller compared to the one given to teams.

The hackathon will take place on Kumospace, a virtual event space designed to foster collaboration and connection. Here, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with your team, meet other participants, interact with mentors, and engage with our sponsors. As the event kicks off, we will open the Pinecone virtual space, and each team will be assigned a room. The details will be provided to each team leader via email. In addition to Kumospace, you can join the Discord channel dedicated to the Pinecone hackathon.

This is not your typical hackathon. Here, we value applications that solve real-world problems and enhance productivity, efficiency, and business value. We're also excited to offer $100k in credits and prizes from Pinecone and our awesome sponsors: AWS, OpenAI, Hugging Face, LangChain, Cohere, Netlify, Zapier, Convex, Vercel, and Clerk.

The goal of this hackathon is to build user-ready applications using Pinecone in conjunction with offerings from one or more of our partner companies. The winning application will integrate Pinecone as a mission-critical component, be ready for use by non-technical users, tackle a real-world problem, and utilize one or more of the partner tools. Please remember to register your project to qualify for our partner's credits.

We've lined up an impressive array of prizes for the top three places, participation awards for the first 1,000 qualifying registrants, and surprise awards to be announced during the event.

Your projects will be judged by an esteemed panel including Tim Tully from Menlo Ventures, Stefania Druga from Microsoft Research, Lance Martin from LangChain, Jonathan Cipriano from Netlify, and James Briggs and Roie Schwaber-Cohen from Pinecone. The judging criteria include the substantial use of Pinecone, solving a real-world problem, innovative use of Pinecone, user experience, effective use of partner tools, and technical execution of the application. You can view the full judging criteria on the hackathon website.

We wish you the best of luck and look forward to seeing the innovative applications you create to solve real-world problems. Let's jumpstart real-world AI applications together!

Good luck!
